The Leadership Council (LC) shall consist of twelve people, which includes the Presbytery Moderator and Vice-Moderator. Member serve a three year term and may be reelected for a second. Following two full terms , individuals may not be re-elected until one year has elapsed. Corresponding members are the Executive Presbyter, the Stated Clerk and the Treasurer.

The purpose of the Leadership Council is to serve as the Leadership Council of the Presbytery; to create a vision and strategy for the growth and future of the Presbytery; to promote the Mission Statement wherein “Beaver Butler Presbytery is a covenant community of churches that supports, nurtures, and helps grow disciples in the ways of Christ”; to act as Trustees of the Presbytery, and to organize and plan Presbytery meetings.

CURRENT PRIORITIES

  • Interpret per capita need and use.
  • Interpret collaborative good news within the Presbytery.
  • Reinterpret the role of the Presbytery in relation to the churches of the Presbytery.
  • Develop a plan for modernized office practices to provide future agility.
  • Create updated Personnel Manual.
  • Create a new Presbytery website.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to prepare, in conjunction with presbytery staff, both a mission and per capita budget for the upcoming year; to hear and recommend decisions on financial issues from our churches; to review property or loan issues; and to maintain and report financial issues to the Leadership Council (LC).

The purpose of the Personnel Committee is to be a resource to the Leadership Council (LC) and to be available to Presbytery staff on matters pertaining to employment, pay and benefits. Responsibilities include conducting annual Staff reviews, recommending advancement opportunities or changes in salary, maintaining and recommending changes to Personnel policy to the Leadership Council (LC) and mediating staff issues.

PRIORITIES

Transfer Personnel related material from the Operations Manual into appropriate Procedures and Processes.

GOALS

Conduct Annual Personnel Reviews with each staff member.

The purpose of the Administration & Resource Committee is to act as the building and grounds team for the presbytery office; provide oversight for the overture process; and administer Presbytery functions such as celebrating anniversaries and acknowledging helpful work of upper governing bodies.

PRIORITIES

  • To maintain and enhance the Presbytery office building for service to all.
  • To collaborate with appropriate committees in making recommendations on overtures.
  • To celebrate with joy anniversaries of churches and pastors.

The purpose of the Ministry and Vocation Committee (MVC) is to discern and evaluate the calls of inquirers, candidates and pastors to assist congregations to foster healthy relationships with their pastoral leaders.

PRIORITIES

  • Find ways to merge the functions of the COM & CPM
  • Resource and assist churches to evaluate the work of the pastoral staff and encourage meaningful continuing education.
  • Help churches to understand and fashion the most effective and economical terms of call.
  • Help churches in their discernment process as they seek to call pastors and other leaders.
